OnkoTea Maison Beljanski

An exclusive blend of teas developed by a Doctor and supported by research

Mirko Beljanski, PhD (1923–1998) shared the same passion that drives the fearless explorer, the patient archeologist and the innovative inventor: the passion for discovery.

At the Pasteur Institute, where he specialized in the field of cellular biology and cancerogenesis, he pursued his lifelong dream of bringing Nature and Science together to improve the health and well-being of people.

At the end of a prolific partnership in China, Dr. Beljanski was presented with a large box filled with many of China’s finest teas known for their interesting health properties.

Dr. Beljanski subjected each sample to a special test to reveal their ability to naturally support the body’s immune system. He recorded the positive results and filed them. Years later, after Dr. Beljanski’s passing we discovered his list. We searched for the organic source of each of those teas and created our proprietary blend for “OnkoTea®”.

Now you can enjoy this aromatic and flavorful tea every day while also supporting your body’s defense system.

The special teas of OnkoTea®

Organic Gunpowder Green Tea

Gunpowder green tea is a particular variety of green tea from the Camellia sinensis plant that is prepared slightly differently and therefore has unique properties and health benefits. The leaves are rolled into tight, small pellets, resembling the old style of gunpowder pellets, which explains the name. This preparation allows the leaves to retain far more of their nutrients, including a slightly higher caffeine level than other green teas.

Gunpowder Tea provides health benefits, due in large part to the polyphenolic compounds, catechins, and alkaloids in the leaves.

Gunpowder tea production dates back to the Tang Dynasty 618 to 906 A.D.

Organic Dragonwell Green Tea

Dragon Well ("lung ching" or "long jing" in Chinese) is perhaps the most famous green tea from China, named after the Dragon's Well landmark in the West Lake area of the Zhejiang, where the tea was first made. Dragon Well is known for its unique shape and remarkable flavor. The leaves are folded in on themselves, forming the characteristic sword-like shape.

This is a great tea to help strengthen your immune system diseases due to high levels of theanine (amino acid), catechins (a natural phenol and antioxidant) and vitamin C.

Dragonwell Tea is believed to have been given that name because a dragon lived in the village well, controlling the rainfall. Villagers would visit the well and pray for rain.

Organic Red Rooibos Tea

Rooibos (pronounced ROY-boss) has very strong health benefits and is a favorite among South Africans because it is said to have 50% more antioxidants than are found in green tea Antioxidants are the organic substances believed to scavenge "free radicals," the toxic by-product of natural biological processes that can damage cells. This tea is especially high in two unique polyphenols, including one that is only found in Red Rooibos called Aspalathin. It was also recently identified as a source of super oxide dismutase, a very powerful antioxidant. Research shows that these antioxidants may protect against the effects of free radicals Red Rooibos has also been identified as a source of the flavonoids luteolin and Quercetin.

Organic Green Ceylon Tea

Ceylon tea refers to any type of tea that is produced in Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon. Like other kinds of tea, Ceylon tea comes from the leaves of the tea plant, Camellia sinensis.

Green ceylon tea is made from unfermented leaves of the tea plant, Camellia sinensis. and contains high level of antioxidants.

Ceylon tea is rich in several potent polyphenols, including aglycones, quercetin, myricetin and kaempferol. Ceylon tea also contains theaflavins and thearubigins which are antioxidants that help to fight free radicals that may damage DNA.

Organic Tulsi Tea

The scientific name of Tulsi is Ocimum Tenuiflorum. The word Tulsi means ‘the incomparable plant’. It is an adaptogenic herb which means it is non-toxic and has a normalizing effect on the body. Typically this refers to its ability to help the body adapt to stress. The health benefits of tulsi are due to the active ingredient, Eugenol present in the leaves. It also contains ursolic acid and carvacrol, both of which have anti-microbial properties. Tulsi tea is rich in anti-oxidants, which help the body fight free radicals that are responsible for causing various chronic degenerative diseases. Tulsi tea also helps neutralizes dangerous chemicals that lead to the formation of undesirable cells in the body.

Organic Bi luo chun Tea

Bi luo chun is from Dongting Mountain, Wu Xian, Jiangsu and it is renowned for its delicate appearance, fruity taste, floral aroma, showy white hairs and early cropping. Its unique aromatic flavor also brings unusual calming effects. Bi Luo Chun is sweet and fruity in flavor, with notes of peach and a mildly vegetal after taste and releases large amounts of Theanine (an amino acid), antioxidants and has one of the highest concentrations of Catechins among teas.
